DAPA is excited to be able to again provide an informational booth at the annual Dayton Autism Society’s 5K Walk/Run for Autism Awareness and Acceptance and Resource Fair, after being unable to do so the past two years. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, with the race beginning at 10:00 am. This
event, which helps The Autism Society of Dayton provide educational, respite, and other support services such as funds for therapies and equipment to local individuals with autism and their families, will be held at the Payne Recreation Center at 3800 N. Main St in Moraine, Ohio, 45439.
We hope our members can make it out to participate in the walk/run or just to explore the various vendor booths and discover more about our community’s wonderful support services for these families! Please visit their website at www.autismsocietyofdayton.org for more information and to register early for the walk/run. The registration fee for walk/run participants is $30 for adults and $20 for children and includes a t- shirt and medal. All proceeds stay with the Dayton Autism Society to fund their Family Grant Program. Also, if any DAPA member or student affiliate would like to aide in providing the DAPA informational table, please contact Dr. Marcy Gunn at Marcyjgpsyd@gmail.com.
Future DAPA community service events will include providing the DAPA informational booth at the annual Out of the Darkness walk for suicide awareness on October 16. 2022. Also, the DAPA Board of Trustees is currently exploring options to arrange our own fundraising event to benefit one or more local organizations. We appreciate any suggestions from our members regarding this option and other worthy causes for which DAPA could provide support.
